The New York Hawks have a new wide receiver this season. Gaius Charles has joined the cast of Necessary Roughness as Damon Razor, a rookie who – if he can get his personal issues in order – just might give franchise player TK a run for his money.

Charles spoke with Scifi Vision about what it was like getting back on the field. Best known as Smash Williams on the high school football drama Friday Night Lights, he put that experience to work for him on Necessary Roughness.

“Returning to the field to portray Damon Razor,” he said, “the learning curve was much shorter in terms of feeling comfortable in the pads, feeling comfortable on the field.

“Some actors haven’t had to put on the pads and really get in the physical space of their character. That was not a challenge for me. It was good to have that experience because it has helped me get into a role that much easier.”

But there’s more to the role than just football.

FX's critically acclaimed comedy series, Louie, returns tonight for a third season. The creator of the show, Louis C.K., also serves as writer, director, and executive producer of the series in which he stars. The stand-up comedian plays a fictionalized version of himself on the series that focuses on his his life, his daughters, and of course his comedy.

Louis C.K. recently talked to the media about what fans can expect in the upcoming season.

Of all the new shows that have made their debut over this last season Jane By Design surprised me the most. At first it looked like a typical teenage show with a little fashion thrown in, but half way through the pilot episode you see it is so much more than that.

Sometimes funny and sometimes serious but all the time entertaining. A big part of that comes from newcomer Erica Dasher. A wonderful actress who can make you find yourself cheering her on in her two-sided coin of her life, and sometimes groaning in disappointment along with her when something just doesn't work out.

Dasher talked about Jane By Design with the new season plot line, the cast members, and what it's like to film on the weekly schedule of her hit television show. Always pleasant to speak with, she seems to have a laugh always on the edge of her conversation and she is just as wonderful to talk to in her interviews as her character on the show. Maybe it should be "Erica By Design?"

The Closer returns to TNT next month for its final six episodes, bringing the Emmy-winner to its long-awaited conclusion. Star Kyra Sedgwick announced her intention to end the show nearly eighteen months ago, giving executive producer James Duff plenty of time to write a satisfying ending.

Sedgwick is aware of Brenda Johnson’s place in television history. “I see her as a significant and seminal character in the lexicon of female characters ever played for a long period of time,” she recently told reporters.

“I think we broke a lot of ground and I think that we were able to consistently weave exciting storylines with deep and resonating character arcs. And I think that that’s something that’s very hard to do, especially in a procedural. And I think that we accomplished that.”

Necessary Roughness follows the life of Dr. Dani Santino (Callie Thorne), a psychotherapist as well as single mother, who is hired to be the psychologist for the football team the New York Hawks. The series revolves around her and her patients as they struggle both on and off the field.

This season introduces the owner of the Hawks, Marshall Pittman, played by Evan Handler, who fans may know as Charlie Runkle on Californication, or previously for his role as Harry Goldenblatt on Sex and the City.

Handler recently talked to the media about his role on the show.
