Written by Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano and directed by David Henrie, Monster Summer opens today in theaters. The summer of 1997 is disrupted for Noah (Mason Thames) and his friends and baseball teammates, Ben (Noah Cottrell), Eugene (Julian Lerner), and Sammy (Abby James Witherspoon), when a mysterious evil presence arrives in town, which culminates when an sinister force appears before Ben and his date Ellie (Lilah Pate) during a late night swim. Driven by a desire to honor his late father's legacy as a journalist, Noah embarks on an investigation of his own, irregardless of his friends advice, and teams up with retired detective and recluse Gene (Mel Gibson) to save his friend. The film, which also stars Lorraine Bracco, Kevin James, Nora Zehetner, and Patrick Renna, is a spooky adventure for the whole family.

Director and executive producer Henrie recently spoke with SciFi Vision about making the film, including working with both the seasoned and younger cast, some of the difficulties he faced, and much more.

Tonight, The Ark season two came to a close with the episode “Fortunate.” In the episode, the Ark finally arrives at Trappist, finding a planet a lot like Earth. Everyone on the surface seems very happy at first glance of their new home, but if seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Earlier in the week, co-showrunners and executive producers Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner spoke with SciFi Vision about the end of the season, including the twist with Lane’s death from a few episodes earlier, the decision to split up the group at the end of the finale, the possibility of a season three and what it might look like, and much more.

This year, dog behaviorist Cesar Milan, known to the world as “The Dog Whisperer,” is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of his first television appearance. His series Cesar Milan: Better Human Better Dog is currently airing its fifth season on both National Geographic and Disney+. Milan continues his mission of inspiring a new generation of dog lovers on the new season, where he matches pet parents with the perfect companions to help them each complete their own family pack.

According to Milan, who spoke with SciFi Vision recently, the series is not only entertaining, but also educational and enlightening. “[There are] three kinds of people in the world,” Milan explained, “people who love dogs, people who are afraid of dogs, and people who don't like dogs. And I can help them all.”

Milan is also the co-founder of the Halo Collar, which is launching its new version, Halo Collar 4. The design has been revamped in smaller hardware with the same capabilities now inclusive to all size dogs, including small dogs (10+ pounds), where previously only larger dogs could wear the collar. Milan created the design himself to enable pet parents everywhere to have access to his training. The collar, which can instantly create and store unlimited wireless fences on each collar in the Halo app does not require a wi-fi or cellular connection, so you can always keep your dog safe off their leash and create a “backyard” wherever you are.  You can also use the built-in training to teach dogs to respond to a variety of sounds and vibrations, all of which is customizable, so you can find what works best for your dog. Other updates to the new addition include 25% longer battery life and a lighter all-day fit, as well as updated colors.

As the town deals with Tian Chen’s death in episode two, the somberness can be felt everywhere. The opening scene with Harold Perrineau I once again found hard to watch in the best way as he breaks down over Tian Chen’s body. You can really feel his grief in this scene, and that feeling only continues to build as the episode goes on, from Boyd and Jade transporting her body to the church, to Kristi and Jade preparing her to be seen by Kenny. I also thought Jade’s moments with her were poignant. Even Donna breaking down really got to me. It was clear she was just dealing with it in her own way when she blamed Boyd at first, but it just adds more pressure on him. Will he eventually crack?

Once Kenny finds out, it was of course extremely heartbreaking and the radio playing a celebration song was just awful and likely the powers that be screwing with him. I very much liked that Boyd was willing to risk his life to blow up the caves with Kenny, and their subsequent conversation about Boyd being forced to watch was really powerful.

The second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol picks up where it left off, the fan favorites Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) facing their own challenges. While Carol is determined to find her best friend, Daryl is conflicted with his decision to stay in France, creating tension among those at the Nest. Meanwhile, Genet (Anne Charrier)’s movement gains strength, leading Pouvoir into a violent conflict with the Union of Hope over the future of France.

Recently, Charrier, as well as Romain Levi, who plays Codron, now on the opposite side from Genet, spoke with the press about what fans can expect from season two, what it was like meeting Melissa McBride, and more.

The second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol picks up where it left off. While Carol (Melissa McBride) follows clues to find her best friend who is now in France, Daryl (Norman Reedus) struggles with his decision to stay with Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) not to return to the US, which causes tension among those at the Nest. Recently, Scigliuzzi and Eriq Ebouaney, who plays Fallou, spoke with the press about what fans could expect in season two, what it was like meeting McBride, how Carol will impact their characters, and much more.

SciFi Vision recently spoke with the stars and director of She Taught Love about their sweet romantic drama. Darrell Britt-Gibson wrote the impressive script and also stars in it as Frank, a young actor who's between projects and indulging too much in self-destructive behaviors. Then, he meets a young woman named Mali (Arsema Thomas), who  inspires him to change his ways, despite a looming tragedy. Director Nate Edwards did an excellent job with this gem of a relationship movie.

Based loosely on Britt-Gibson's own experiences, the film is about how two people are drawn to each other, despite having very different personalities and life goals. They keep going back to each other, despite the flaws. When she has a health crisis, the two must choose to live in the moment and support each other the only way they can.

Twilight of the Gods, an all-new epic animated retelling of Norse mythology, recently premiered on Netflix. In a realm of legendary heroes and epic conflicts, King Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal warrior, finds love and salvation in Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), a fearless fighter, when she saves him on the battlefield. Recently, director and executive producer Zack Snyder, along with executive producers Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller, spoke with SciFi Vision about creating the animated series, which can now be streamed in its entirety on Netflix.

Taking place annually on September 26, the date on which the cordyceps virus catalyzed the events of THE LAST OF US also known as “Outbreak Day,” the annual TLOU Day event, now in its 11th year, celebrates the franchise and its dedicated fan community.
